ADDRESSING THE TRYING MOMENTS IN LIFE WITH FUR THERAPY
Mid-Michigan Therapy Dogs provides ‘Fur Therapy’ to patients by bringing in their certified therapy dogs to comfort the patients. The therapy dogs provide a serenity and comfort to hose patients and their families in a challenging environment.
There has been extensive research completed on the advantages of fur therapy.
Our furry companions are an important source of social contact and bonding. They help improve mental, social and physiological health and are a source of relaxation, which is beneficial to healing.
Various researchers has studied fur therapy and found that the visits provide stress relief, provide a relaxing effect on calming a child before a procedure of waking a child after surgery.
Mid Michigan Therapy Dog’s continue to serve those who are undergoing challenges and share the love that fur therapy provides.

Therapy dogs can be any breed. They must be friendly, confident, gentle and at ease in most situations. They should enjoy being petted by people, especially children and the elderly. The dog’s main job is offering comfort, affection and encouragement. It’s a tough job, but they are more than willing to do it.
